Building Community

We take pride in being a 100% Oaxacan company that promotes fair trade and employs local talent. From the harvesting of agave to the creation of our products, all activities in the value chain are carried out in Oaxaca, respecting the culture and biodiversity of our land.

Our history has always gone hand in hand with respect for nature. From the creation of the first bottle that revives the ancient way of storing mezcal to being pioneers in bottling in black glass and developing experimental distillates, each innovation is designed to minimize environmental impact.

At Mezcal Convite, the protection of the natural environment is one of our core principles. Our approach to mezcal production is not only based on respect for ancestral techniques but also on a deep commitment to sustainability and the preservation of Oaxaca’s biodiversity.

Traceability and Sustainability

Each of our mezcal batches has complete traceability, which means we can identify the exact fields where the agaves used in production come from. This level of transparency allows us to ensure that we are using resources responsibly and that our processes are sustainable in the long term.

Additionally, we exceed the requirements established by the Mexican Official Standard (NOM-070), which regulates mezcal production, by replanting more agaves than required. This ensures that native species, such as wild agaves, continue to thrive in their natural environment, contributing to the regeneration of local ecosystems. Our commitment goes beyond the minimum, actively working to preserve endemic species and avoid the overexploitation of natural resources.

Collaboration with Science

We work closely with botanical experts to deepen our knowledge of the agave species that are part of our mezcal tradition. In particular, we collaborate with botanist Abisaí García on the taxonomic classification of the Coyote agave, a species that is emblematic of mezcal production in the region. This work not only strengthens biodiversity conservation but also enriches the scientific understanding of these plants and their value in Oaxacan ecosystems.

Responsible Production

Our distilleries operate with an environmentally conscious approach. We have implemented practices that minimize resource usage, optimize water consumption, and reduce waste generated at each stage of the process. By using techniques such as clay pot distillation and experimental distillates, we ensure that we maintain a balance between innovation and respect for traditional production methods.
